My name is Jay del Corro, proud Canadian, creator and host of the online cooking show, The Aimless Cook. I started my show on YouTube in October of 2009 as a vlog, making videos of some of my favourite recipes in my apartment. Now in 2012, The Aimless Cook is watched by over 7000+ loyal subscribers on YouTube, iTunes, iFood.tv, Blip.tv and more. My YouTube channel was recently picked in November of 2011 to be one of 16 from 5 countries to take part in YouTube’s Next Chef program.
I think the best way to describe myself would be a “wandering cook”, hence the “aimless” approach to cooking. I am mostly self taught and have worked and learned my craft (seen the good and the bad) in restaurant kitchens on and off for over 15 years. I am an avid reader that loves to travel, ask questions, poke my head in kitchens and experiment constantly. My goal is to never stop learning.
My recipes are a mix of classic favourites from Asia and beyond. My fusion dishes are often the most fun and delicious of my recipes since they capture the spirit of adventure and discovery. I believe that food is wonderful thing. It gives us life, brings people together and creates memories. Often, in our hearts, we have a strong connection to a special meal or an astonishing memory of the first taste of something new and undiscovered. It amazes me that we all have the power to evoke emotion by the simple act of preparing a meal. Cook with me and start something amazing today!
